HAYLEY TURNER is hopeful of returning to action, sooner rather than later, after undergoing a concussion test and scan in London earlier today.
26-year-old Hayley, prevented from riding out since being knocked unconscious while schooling ill-fated Old Sarum for Newmarket trainer, Phil McEntee, last month, has been told by Dr Michael Turner, the BHA’s chief medical adviser, that it will take a couple of days before he sees the results.
“It is a bit of bummer, but I shouldn’t moan because there have been awful things happen with head injuries recently, and I realise I have been very lucky,” said Hayley, whose previous scan revealed she still had some bruising inside the skull. During this frutrating interim Hayley travelled to Dubai for the World Cup meeting last weekend, but is now extremely anxious to resume her burgeoning career. “I am desperate to get back, this is my favourite time of the year, and I can’t wait to get riding again. I am pretty bored, although it was nice to get out to Dubai and I wouldn’t have been able to go if I hadn’t been laid-up… hopefully by the end of the week Dr Turner will have told me where I stand, and touch wood it will be good news.”
And so say all fans of ‘daily earner!’
Ante-post punters suffered a blow yesterday when heavily-backed War Of Attrition was ruled out of Saturday’s John Smith’s Grand National at Aintree.
This Irish-trained 10-year-old was down to 12-1 with Ladbrokes and had been the subject of a gamble for the big race. However, trainer Mouse Morris decided not to run as he is not totally satisfied about going to ‘War’and will now rely on Hear The Echo. ”We weren’t 100 per cent happy with War Of Attrition this morning and we’ve decided against sending him to Aintree. A surprise? No because on www.1degreeonline.co.uk we inserted ‘latest news’ stating we’d received a message urging us to lay War Of Atrrition for a place; that was Saturday and so ‘they knew’ then. Can you believe anything in the racing columns given that ‘Lincoln’ winner, Espresso Star, was also plastered all over the Racing Post front page as ‘doubtful if the ground is firm?’ Espresso Star bolted up on ‘good to firm’ Doncaster ground!
Our on-line facility is free; it’s an extended arm of my International column, and the information we provide, in an attempt to make your racing profitable and enjoyable. It will always be that way.
As for War Of Attrition, WE KNEW!
BTW ‘fingers crossed’ for Hayley Turner today when she has her head examined by BHA Doctor, Michael Turner, for clearance to ride after a miserable month. If given the ‘all clear’ Hayley will resume next week.
LAY OF TODAY is aborted, there simply wasn’t a serious proposition at the ‘wrong’ price and I’ve combed all three cards. LOT should not be about searching, moreso coming across the obvious; a good/wrong price is immediately apparent based on my long experience. For instance golfer, Sean O’Hair, was ‘wrong’ at 1.6 against the mighty Tiger Woods in the ‘Arnold Palmer’ and so it proved. in one of the most exciting finishes of a sporting event ever seen on Sky Sports TV.
The full LOT chart for MARCH, ‘warts ‘n all’, is printed for your perusal and open to any examination.

The objective, every month, is to profit; this was achieved and the accompanying chart details our total progress throughout March. LAY OF TODAY is punting in reverse, 21st century style, now that it’s possible with BETDAQ/BETFAIR exchanges to effect such transactions. It is NOT bookmaking which encompasses favourites and a ‘field’ with a built in percentage profit based on turnover.
This was the first month for LOT; as a betting medium it is recession-proof, if my interpretation is sufficiently accurate. Best way to benefit, as previously mentioned, is to add a tenth to your next LOT after a previous success. For example, after number 3 they all laughed, was successful (as a loser!) the next stake on 4, Mighty Moon, should have been your same stake, plus a tenth.
£10 on They All Laughed, £11 mighty moon and so on. NEVER reduce the stake, just add after every profitable transaction; it requires ‘bottle’ and a business-like approach based on a bank/tank you can afford. Enjoyment comes from profit but, for those who seek more excitement, ‘dull’ would be the word that springs to mind. At the end of the day/month/year my LOT modus operandi is not dull, there again I’ve learned the wisdom of patience.
‘The harder you work, the luckier you become’ and I’ll do all the hard work, for you!
