Can’t believe…

Saturday, October 31st, 2009

what I’ve just seen because ‘daily earner’ was quite incredible on CRUNCHER, 8.50 WOLVERHAMPTON.

Cruncher landed a tremendous gamble and Hayley made the difference in a fantastic finish; it’s the sort of thing we used to accept when Lester Piggott achieved such feats. This 26-year-old Nottinghamshire lass really is on the verge of world class but, eh, we’ve been saying that for a long time!

What a shame the Breeders’ Cup isn’t on her agenda, it would be so much better to have the best female jockey in the world on the Santa Anita stage.

Never mind we’ll be able to see Hayley at Donny…well done!

Just realise…

It’s a long way for ‘Tipperary’ and to Ayr!
Barry Hills has decided to ‘bite the bullet’ and journey once-raced Tipperary Boutique a ‘million miles’ for the Maiden Stakes over seven furlongs, and he’s booked Paul ‘The man agen’ Hanagan.
It’s costly but Barry is a shrewd businessman not to mention a great, consistent trainer; he didn’t get where he is today without being a supreme opportunist and what beats Tipperary Boutique will win, to use this veteran’s terminology!
‘Soft’ ground is the key and though Tipperary Boutique hasn’t been out for 91 days you can bet fitness wont be at issue; in fact this Danehill Dancer filly has, reportedly, worked extremely well these past few weeks.
That’s for starters and later course winner, Infiraad, is strongly-fancied for the £18000 all-aged mile handicap at Newmarket, where an eight-race programme signs off the 2009 campaign which has been tremendous from the time Sea The Stars landed the 2000 Guineas over this very course and distance back in May.
Infiraad won unchallenged and impressively over seven at the ‘Guineas meeting’ and is ready to win again!
With inmates at Farringdon stables in tremendous form, and Hills running out of season, Music Maestro is another ‘live’ runner in the Maiden Stakes over seven furlongs of Kempton polytrack.
No’cert’ by any means but a ‘professional special’ each-way prospect judged on his effort on a similar surface at Wolves three weeks ago.

Selections, Ayr, 1.05 Tipperary Boutique (nap); Newmarket, 2.05 Infiraad (e.w); Kempton, 5.35 Music Maestro (e.w); Wolverhampton, 9.20 Oriental Cavalier (e.w).

Busy, unusual day…

ahead but I’ll hopefully be back in time to ‘blog’ the rides of Hayley Turner who has one ride at Newmarket before setting off for Wolverhampton.

Chanes are excellent she WILL  ride one winner, at least, today.

See you later and there almost certain to a LOT announced.

‘Juicy’ prospect…

Juicy Pear and Hayley Turner look a tasty combination, in the twelve-runner Maiden Auction Stakes, over seven furlongs of Wolverhampton polytrack tonight.
‘Daily Earner’ is sure to get plenty of good-natured ribbing from her fellow jockeys riding cleverley-named, Juicy Pear, (by Pyrus*) but she could have the last laugh judged on his promising debut, three weeks ago.
Hayley gives juveniles the perfect introduction, no one monitors her fascinating career moreso than myself and Juicy Pear wont have been worried by his ‘first day ay school’ when third to Chardonnay, over course and distance!
In the closing stages Juicy Pear ran on strongly and was beaten less than two lengths, having improved from well in rear.
On my time-handicap Juicy Pear has a clear edge and represents the classic each-way bet with three places on offer.
Two-year-olds are best served being ridden by the same jockey, thoroughbreds are trusting individuals and every advantage is gained by treating them accordingly. To be fair experienced trainer, Michael Bell, knows that!
Twice-raced Quick Wit reappears a week after finishing second to Tamaathul at Doncaster, he’s one of nineteen ‘decs’ for the Maiden Stakes over seven furlongs at Newmarket.
Quick Wit stormed home in a quicker division and I’d be wary of backing the winner to beat this Godolphin-owned colt again, on similar terms.
The impression was tremendous, my TH mark illustrates an obvious opportunity for Frankie Dettori to edge closer to the 100 winners he’s attempting to achieve before flying off to Australia for the Melbourne Cup.
‘Time’ is running out but it’s on his side with ‘Wit!’

Selections, Newmarket, 1.50 Puff (e.w); 2.25 featherweight (e.w); Wolverhampton, 8.50 Juicy Pear (e.w).

*Pyrus is the genus of the pear family!
