‘Time’ to bet like men…

Monday, May 31st, 2010

because REWILDING, 14 BETDAQ/BETFAIR represents colossal (trading!) value and, of course, could well win the Epsom Derby; mount of Frankie Dettori which means he’ll be much shorter on Saturday.

Back to lay is my advice, BEFORE twelve ‘o clock!

The ‘A-Team!’

Monday, May 31st, 2010

Ezra Church is my nap for the Maiden Stakes over six furlongs at Redcar this afternoon; two days ago stable-companion, Philosophers Stone, landed it under a strong ride from Graham Gibbons, one of the best, most improved jockeys on this planet.
Typical of trainer David Barron to spot him!
Barron never misses a trick and he should have a made a fortune from backing horses trained at his Thirsk base; Philosophers Stone was backed as if there was no tomorrow and, thanks to Gibbons. prevailed. That’s what jockeyship is all about, being able to do the job.
Down the years Barron has employed a succession of ‘job jockeys’, none better than GG who has ridden Ezra Church in both races to date, over eight furlongs!
Significant this drop back in trip; one thing is certain stamina wont be at issue and Gibbbons obviously reckons Ezra Church has the pace to cope in what is a moderate race.
Leicester stages a seven-race programme on which Lathaat stands out as a decent each-way bet in the Maiden Stakes over a mile.
Lathaat will be placed, by default and, hopefully, will complete my place double; Radio Wave initiates it in the Maiden Stakes over twelve furlongs of undulating Chepstow under William Buick, a class act who was snapped up by John Gosden a few weeks ago.
It’s a ‘bank holiday’ Monday, low-grade racing but I’ve found four likely selections, don’t look for any more!

Selections, Redcar, 4.45 Ezra Church (nap); Leicester, 5.00 Lathaat (e.w); Goodwood, 4.55 Count Ceprano (e.w); Chepstow, 3.05 Radio Wave

PS I’ve combed the Towcester jumping card and reckon the following are worth betting…

2.15 APACHE CHANT (E.W); 2.50 MISS NIGHTSHADE; 5.10 MVUTO.

LOT…

activates in the first two races at Fontwell/Uttoxeter with CONFLICTOFINTEREST/ROSE CROWN at 1.6-2.0, respectively, BETDAQ/BETFAIR.

LAY, LAY!

We have enjoyed another goood month which finishes tomorrow, and then it’s June…!

‘Art’ form…

Sunday, May 30th, 2010

Bonheurs Art is strongly-fancied by the in-form Barry Hills’ yard to supplement recent Ripon success in the eleven-runner Fillies’ Handicap over six furlongs at Newmarket. Only one slight negative!
Robert Winston was outstanding when winning on Bonheurs Art at the Yorkshire ‘Garden’ course but on this occasion Eddie Ahern is preferred!
He hasn’t ridden this Acclamation filly before!
Winston is consistently amongst my ‘top ten’ jockeys whereas Eddie never figures and, though proficient, isn’t in the same league as Robert. Jockeys play an important part where my serious betting is concerned!
Drawn one and a fast starter Bonheurs Art should be gone and away; the rest is up to ‘Fast Eddie!’
Man Of Action appears (again!) in the Maiden Stakes over seven furlongs; hasn’t raced since making an eye-catching debut 212 days ago over a similar distance on the July Course. Why?
Mine is not to wonder, trainer John Gosden is patient (his owners can afford to be!) and that’s the crux nowadays, finance!
Man Of Action should prove head ‘n shoulders above his fifteen rivals, ‘word’ is encouraging, incidentally, and these could give us a profitable day; Uttoxeter also looks interesting, both Onemix and Chesapeake justify support for the set-weight hurdle races.

Selections, Uttoxeter, 2.10 Onemix (nap); 3.50 Chesapeake; Newmarket, 4.40 Man Of Action; 5.15 Bonheurs Art.
